In short

An ecommerce growth consultant helps a brand grow revenue profitably by fixing the full funnel: acquisition, conversion and retention. I'm Vishal Pothur, an India-based consultant with 11+ years, 300+ brands and ₹150Cr+ revenue influenced, and I work with fashion, ethnic-wear and D2C brands across Shopify, Google and Meta Ads, SEO, CRO and AI search.

Serving brands across India

Growth is a system, not a channel.

Indian ecommerce is crowded and margins are tight. Winning isn't about one clever tactic - it's about a connected system across acquisition, conversion and retention that compounds over time.

Over 11+ years and 300+ brands, I've helped Indian founders move past vanity metrics toward what matters: revenue, repeat customers and durable, profitable growth - with ₹150Cr+ influenced along the way.

Local FAQ

Ecommerce growth in India - questions, answered.

What kind of brands do you work with? +
Ambitious fashion, ethnic-wear, jewellery, beauty and D2C brands across India that want profitable, durable growth. Past clients include Singhania's, Krishna Jewellers, Neemans and The Binge Town, along with international brands in France, Dubai and Canada.
Do you do strategy or execution? +
Both. I build the roadmap and run the work, so strategy and execution stay connected. Strategy and prioritisation stay with me, and execution across Shopify, paid media, SEO and CRO is delivered with my team at Calyx Core.
How do we start? +
With a discovery call to understand your goals, numbers and biggest constraint. If there is a fit, the next step is an audit of your funnel, tracking and channels, followed by a clear 90-day plan tied to revenue targets.

Ready to scale profitably?

Let's build the growth system behind your next stage.

When does an Indian ecommerce brand need a growth consultant?

Usually when revenue has stalled despite more ad spend, or when growth is happening but nobody can say which channel is profitable. Other signs: ROAS that looks good in the platform but not in the bank, rising return and RTO rates, and a team that's busy with tasks but has no shared plan.

A consultant is useful when the problem sits between channels. If the issue is clearly one channel, a specialist may be enough. I'll say so on the discovery call if that's the case.

The first weeks are mostly diagnosis: checking that tracking is accurate, finding where the funnel loses the most money and ranking fixes by impact. For many Indian brands the biggest early wins come from unglamorous places, like product page speed on mobile, clearer delivery and return information, or a prepaid incentive that reduces COD returns.

Which numbers should a D2C brand in India review every week?

Review contribution margin, blended acquisition cost and repeat rate before anything platform-specific. Those three tell you whether growth is profitable and whether it'll last. Platform ROAS and CTR are useful for running campaigns, but they're inputs, not the scoreboard.

  • Contribution margin per order, after shipping, discounts and payment fees
  • Blended CAC: total marketing spend divided by new customers
  • COD share and RTO rate, since both hit real margin
  • Store conversion rate, split by mobile and desktop
  • Repeat purchase rate within your normal reorder window
  • Revenue by channel from Shopify or GA4, not ad platforms

This is the short weekly sheet I set up with most brands. It fits on one screen, and when a number moves, it tells you which part of the funnel to look at first. Ad platform dashboards still get checked, but they explain the sheet rather than replace it.
